FIRSTHAND EXPERIENCE
Top 5 countries to work remotely

Here is our list of countries with good living standards if you earn in dollars or euros, where you could easily go without a visa, where they have reliable and accessible Internet connection and it is quite safe. And most importantly, each place has something that your country may lack: year-round warm climate, the sea, the mountains, friendly locals and fantastic atmosphere.
Top 5 countries to work remotely

Indonesia, Bali island

One of the world’s freelance hubs is Bali. Thousands of expats from Australia, Europe and CIS have been living here for a long time, so the locals have created an excellent infrastructure for remote work: stylish cafes with outlets and fast Internet, supermarkets with European food, coworking spaces, comfortable housing. Locals arrange cultural events and open best stores.
Bali is a unique Asian place where you still keep close to social life: you can easily make new acquaintances or even find some projects to work on. Also people come here to surf, to do yoga, to admire views of rice fields and stunning sunsets. But still, Indonesia is a developing country: the issue of garbage and stealing is acute, in the winter — too many tourists.

Prices for food in stores are fair, but alcohol is pricey. Eating out costs the same as cooking at home, but dining at some European restaurant is 3−4 times more expensive.
Internet access is without extra costs, as almost all cafes and housing have reliable Wi-Fi hotspots. Just buy a local SIM card with a fixed package.
You can stay up to 30 days with the tourist visa, but you can't extend it. Though it is possible to buy a 30-day visa ($ 30) at the airport, which can be extended for another 30 days by visa-run. You would probably like to have a short trip to neighboring Malaysia.

Thailand

For most people Thailand means the sea, cheap fruit, a lot of tourists and big nights out. All of that is definitely about the South part of the country — the Islands of Phuket, Koh Samui and Phangan. It is worth going there for a laidback beach ambiance. However, resort areas are not suited for a long-term stay and work.
The Northern city of Chiang Mai is far more popular among expats. There is no sea, but there are mountains, jungles, monasteries and coworking spaces. It is home to the country’s largest University, which attracts an international crowd of expats and downshifters. At the same time, it is a spiritual capital. In the mountains of the North Thailand there are hundreds of temples and monasteries, where they go for enlightenment. If you are familiar with "Vipassana", keep plant-based diet, work in IT or digital, you will quickly learn the ropes.
Prices for food are about € 2−3 at a cafe.
Mobile Internet costs around € 20−25 for a SIM card with fast unlimited access. In cafes and hotels there are Wi-Fi hotspots, but the connection is rather unstable.
Tourist visa. You can stay for 30 days, then you have to exit the country and enter back by the visa-run. It is allowed to cross the border twice by land and three times by plane. So, in total you have 90 and 120 days. There is also a 60-day tourist visa which must be issued in advance.

Georgia (the country)

Georgia is getting more popular among freelancers from many countries, especially from Russia. It is just stone’s throw away from Europe, flights and housing are affordable, food and transport are cheap, the climate is mild, the nature is magnificent, English is spoken now and then.

Except for the plane, there is an option to get there by car. It is really easy to pass the border: you only need your passport, registration and driving license. If you stay in the country for more than three months, you have to get Georgian licence plate. It is issued at the police station and costs $ 80. The licence plate is valid for 3 years.
Prices for food in stores are lower than in Europe: tomatoes - €0.5/kg, chicken - €2, cheese - €2-3, excellent local wine - €3-5 a bottle. Khinkali - from €0.2 per each, khachapuri - €0.5, kebab - €3-4.
Mobile Internet costs are reasonable — 10GB from €6/ month with a local SIM card.

Montenegro

A comfortable European country where it is good to stay: beautiful nature, incredibly tasty food in stores, especially meat products — any kind of sausage is delicious. The country is small, but fascinating: on weekends you can go to the mountains or neighboring villages, the scenery is picturesque everywhere. English is spoken, but only in resort towns.

Freelancers have just started to explore the country, thus there are not enough facilities and entertainment. The country has only recently started to develop touristic segment.
Prices for food in stores are average.
Internet access is pricey, but you can find Wi-Fi hotspots in cafes, hotels and hostels. There are housing options with Internet connection included in the rent.
Tourist visa allows staying up to 90 days until October 31. In low season you can stay for 30 days.

Argentina

Buenos Aires is a great option for those who look for something unusual and are not afraid to go far away from home. Argentina is one of the most Europeanized and safe countries in Latin America, with affordable housing and a developed freelance industry. This is the country of contrasts, where you can see glaciers, mountains, jungles and oceans, European architecture, delicious steaks and wine. The official language is Spanish, so it’s a big advantage if you speak it a little or want to learn it. Though you can survive speaking English.
Argentina is stretched from North to South, so the climate is diverse. In Patagonia, from May to September it is cold about 0℃, in the North of the country it is hot and humid up to +35℃. Buenos Aires is in the moderate climate, with temperatures ranging from 12 to 24℃ throughout the year.
Prices for food have been falling steadily over the past year. The currency of Argentina is going through hard times. But it plays into tourists hands.
Wi-Fi hotspots in cafes and guesthouses are available in Buenos Aires, but it is better to have a backup option, e.g. a local SIM card or Drimsim.
You can stay for 180 days with tourist visa.
